‘Towers of Carton’ is a building competition that takes place annually in the School of Architecture of Paris-La Villette (ENSAPLV). The Memory Matrix is a monument that explores the possibilities for future heritage creation, employing new fabrication techniques and transcultural workshops. This talk is by Azra Akšamija, an artist and designer from Sarajevo based in Boston, where she is Associate Professor at the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology.

The workshop will present a pilot project for public schools developed by The Center for the Study of the Built Environment (CSBE) and teach basic participatory design applications for working with youth. Participatory design secures user buy-in, generates creative solutions that are tailored to the needs of communities, and is a significant contributor to relevant placemaking.
