Young innovators from Eureka Tech Academy are displaying their innovative tech-projects and the process that they went through to reach the final working prototype.

This two day workshop begins with a talk by Huda Abifares that then evolves into a more detailed discussion with a select group of designers. Participants will work to build a knowledge base for future type-research projects tailored for Jordanian culture and market.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to make paper mache mixtures and use the mixtures to create a lamp.

Participants will learn about the basic components of electronic circuits and how to build a simple electronic circuit.

Huda Abifares speaks about the relevance of type design research for creating culturally relevant communication, sustaining heritage and urban environments, and developing culturally-sensitive products. She discusses projects by The Khatt Foundation that focus on open-platform, exchange and collaboration, and education as case studies for a potential model of operation.

The talk will discuss an ongoing agenda, “Almost Natural”, through situating it as a critique towards ongoing green building practices and how a blurring between the natural and synthetic offers an alternative attitude towards building and construction in the Anthropocene.

How can the act of making help promote economic growth, bring communities closer together, and overcome a variety of social issues? In this panel discussion, chaired by the editor of Crafts magazine, Grant Gibson, speakers from Disarming Design from Palestine, The Jordan River Foundation, the Princess Taghrid Foundation explain how craft is capable of making a difference, highlighting the power of collaboration and sustainable programs in craft.

The "Lightweaver" workshop is part of the "Design for a Nomadic World" exhibition, which explores how art, architecture and design can address the emotional, cultural and aesthetic needs of refugees, while fostering a better cross-cultural understanding and a social cohesion between migrant and host communities.

Visit ‘Love on a Bike’ to participate in solving a 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle of one of Rima Malallah’s paintings. After a week of communal puzzle solving, a time-lapse video of the group effort will be created and shared online.

V-Ray expert Kalina Panteleeva will present a two-part guide to unleashing the full power of V-Ray for 3D Max. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to practice what they’ve learned with an exam (V-ray Professional Exam) and walk away as V-Ray Certified Professionals.

This workshop introduces participants to the art of pottery-making, with a focus on utilizing clay and grit to create ornaments or functional pieces for daily-use purposes. Participants will learn about the stages of oven glazing and how to shape clay manually using the clay wheel, and will make one piece for each technique they learn.
