Architect and choreographer Shireen Talhouni will be choreographing a site-specific performance that explores the relationship between the individual, the collective, and the city.

The Amman Design Week edition of 7-Jar takes participants on an experiential discovery of various design elements in the city, including handicrafts, transportation, food production, art, urban public spaces and street life.

This accessories making workshop introduces participants to the traditional art of loom weaving. Mastered by Bedouins for hundreds of years, loom weaving is a craft used by tribes to make beautiful functional and decorative pieces. Each Bedouin tribe has its own tradition in the designs used; each pattern on a rug or tapestry tells unique story belonging to that tribe. Participants in the workshops will apply similar weaving techniques to make their own unique beaded bracelet. A modern take on an old tradition, this workshop aims to keep the tradition of loom weaving alive.

In this workshop, Amal presents her personal experience dealing with waste and speaks about the challenges and benefits of recycling and finding creative ways to reuse waste. Participants will learn creative ways to repurpose waste, and should bring recyclable items, like water bottles, juice containers and food cans.

Frustrated by the littering and garbage that can be found scattered throughout Jordan, Amal was inspired to develop solutions and to contribute to a more environmentally sustainable future for Jordan.

The workshop provides an introduction to 3D Printing and its technologies and where and how this technology is used on a global scale.

Hosted by SADDA Design and Build Studio, the material process of design tour allows participants to explore the relationship between products and materials, as experienced by architects and designers.

Visit ‘Love on a Bike’ to participate in solving a 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle of one of Rima Malallah’s paintings. After a week of communal puzzle solving, a time-lapse video of the group effort will be created and shared online.

This translation workshop is part of a larger knowledge dissemination project initiated by CLUSTER which aims to bring together experts, both academics and practitioners, in the fields of arts, design, architecture and urbanism.

Through this interactive session, participants will be introduced to the history and origin of coffee, in addition to learning the design and process of coffee preparation, type of roasts and variant origin or beans.
