On Wednesday, May 23, 2018
The Emerging Curators Program, which took place in April and May of 2018, brought together sixteen participants who were introduced to the process of curating contemporary design in the Middle East. The intensive program of talks, workshops, and seminars introduced various principles in curating for architecture, furniture, and graphic design, and was taught by experts such as Mohammad El Shahed, Dr. Huda Smitshuijzen AbiFarès, Joy Mardini, Donna Loveday, and others.
Of the presented projects, Jude Abu El Ghanam’s research project was selected to be exhibited as part of the Hangar Exhibition at the 2019 edition of Amman Design Week.
Born and raised in Amman, Jude holds a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the German Jordanian University. For the Hangar Exhibition, Jude presents her research project that investigates the significance of the Al-Baqourah area, an abandoned and restricted military zone area in the Northern Jordan Valley, located on the border between Jordan and Occupied Palestine.
Through a series of photography and documentation, she responds to the issue of the area's inaccessibility and abandonment, while allowing it to be hypothetically revisited.
