Materials of the Levant
Beginning with the Crafts District, where Arini has curated an exhibition that focuses on the journeys of materials. By following how each matter is transformed from its raw state into a composite through the labor of craft, the workshop entitled ‘Materials of the Levant’ delves deeper into tackling the material resources and how the material itself can be a motivator of imagination. It starts by allowing the participants to see materials in their raw and natural forms and where they come from, leading them to collect and archive the locally available materials found. The objective is to create an open-source of knowledge about the materials of the Levant based on the continuous and changing process of researching, gathering, and utilizing regional materials.
Daftar Asfar
Daftar Asfar, a collaborative sketchbook platform which has joined the works of over 80 artists from around the world, comes to the Duke’s Design Center in downtown during Amman Design Week.
The project premise is formed out of the idea of collaboration, where each artist has his or her own spread, and the first and last page of their spread are intersections with other artists. This opportunity has created endless possibilities and challenges - but has always aimed to set the participating artist free.
For the week, Daftar Asfar offers a playful and interactive sketchbook workshop, hosted by co-founders Nahla Tabbaa, Sarah Hatahet, and Lena Kassicieh, alongside other participating artists of Daftar Asfar.
Seminar Live! Is the name you have the reason you dress like this?
