The Hangar Exhibition
Al Zahra’a Al Omari investigates smart materials within textile and technology and presents Silence Tapestry, an interactive color-changing tapestry.
By using a combination of conductive and resistive threads, Silence Tapestry changes color as people interact with it. The threads are connected by a yarn-dyed with thermochromic ink. When a person touches the soft sensor, a current passes through the created mesh, generating heat and causing the yarn to change color.
After finishing her studies in architecture, Al Zahra'a Al Omari received the fabricacademy diploma from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), where she explored textiles, digital fabrication, and biology.
