The House Artistic and Cultural Space, occupying the historic Al-Hmoud house in Jabal Al Lweibdeh, opens its doors for a diverse set of activities during Amman Design Week, organized by Mandalas jo, A Table for 10, and Tajalla for Music and Arts.
While Mandalas Jo is hosting a family workshop on fabric painting, particularly fabrics such as white or light-colored cotton, jeans, or linen. A Table for 10, led by Sawsan Alkhalidi, is also hosting art workshops, introducing skills such as decoupage, water marbling in the Turkish tradition, and woodblock printing, popular in Jaipur, India, and Afghanistan. Participants will apply the art on textiles or cotton shirts that they will be able to customize by selecting from fifty woodblock designs.
Finally, Tajalla will be hosting activities as part of its “I’m my Voice” project, hosts a singing workshop for children aged 8 - 12. This project stems from a comprehensive music train-the-trainer program that aims to train local choir coaches specialized in music choirs for children. Folk music is the heart of this project in an attempt to document and incorporate folk music into the music training program.
