The Hangar Exhibition
The Argeileh Project by Bassam Huneidi is a systems-based approach to addressing the environmental problem created by throwing out immense amounts of disposable argeileh pipes in the Arab World every year. It introduces making argeileh environmentally sustainable through circular production and consumption methods. Proposed in two parts; the project shows how we can at first re-purpose the plastic waste that the current system has created into functional everyday objects, while also proposing a circular production and consumption system to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the disposable argeileh pipes.
Bassam Huneidi is a designer and strategist based in Amman. His work centers around food, sustainability and experimental design interactions. As part of his project, he also presents Jadel by Najla'a Abdallah and House brick by Ploro Group, who utilize the argeileh pipe in various recycling techniques.
