This accessories making workshop introduces participants to the traditional art of loom weaving. Mastered by Bedouins for hundreds of years, loom weaving is a craft used by tribes to make beautiful functional and decorative pieces. Each Bedouin tribe has its own tradition in the designs used; each pattern on a rug or tapestry tells unique story belonging to that tribe. Participants in the workshops will apply similar weaving techniques to make their own unique beaded bracelet. A modern take on an old tradition, this workshop aims to keep the tradition of loom weaving alive.

The introduction to social innovation workshop will teach participants about the importance of social entrepreneurship. Under the umbrella of DOT’s Social Innovator program – which supports youth who are interested in developing, testing and launching a sustainable social enterprise – participants will be given ideas on how to cultivate their passions into an entrepreneurial project that creates a livelihood for themselves while also having a positive impact on their community.

The workshop provides an introduction to 3D Printing and its technologies and where and how this technology is used on a global scale.

For design to become a real industry in Jordan, it has to prove its economic, social and environmental relevance. Is this a neo-Bauhausian statement misplaced in 21st century Jordan? Should designers stay content with a role of ornamentation and embellishment of form, producing so called "art pieces", or will they be a force in the new manufacturing and digital revolutions? This talk joins Ahmad Humeid, curator of the 2017 Hangar Exhibition with Dina Haddadin, the exhibition designer and curator of the 2016 Crafts District in a discussion on the status of design in Jordan.

This open talk covers the design and graphic approach of Tarek Atrissi Design in their worldwide projects that include type design, branding, graphic design, and exhibition design.

Hosted by SADDA Design and Build Studio, the material process of design tour allows participants to explore relationship between products and materials, as experienced by architects and designers.

In cooperation with Tiraz: Widad Kawar Home of Arab Dress, this exhibition focuses on the different techniques and uses of Bedouin weaving. Participants will get a general overview of Bedouin weaving, witness the actual techniques performed by members of different Bedouin tribes, and get the opportunity to purchase samples of kilims.

This exhibition and workshop, in collaboration with Jordan Craft Center ALAYDI, will give adults and children the opportunity to view and participate in the different techniques of Bedouin weaving and textile finishings.

Palm Tree (Nakhleh), Love Tree (Shajaret Hubb), Cypress Trees (Saru) are not only the names of motives of Palestinian embroidery, but also Nisreen and Nermeen’s stems of inspiration for this year's new collection.

In partnership with Zikra Initiative and under the supervision of Husam Manasrah, a collection of patchwork by women from Jdeta Village will be exhibited. The Arabic term JODL has been long used as the common word for the traditional sitting mat in Palestine and Jordan, made from patches of fabric and old clothes, forming a variety of colors, designs and sizes commensurate with its use.

"Design for a Nomadic World" explores how art, architecture and design can address the emotional, cultural and aesthetic needs of refugees, while fostering a better cross-cultural understanding and a social cohesion between migrant and host communities.
