About the Exhibition
Pure-Felt Jordan, which is one of the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training projects, created large scale tactile felt murals, felt art installations and felt interior products that matter and can be touched. Their pieces and products tell a deeper story: the story of purpose, making, and makers. This art work focuses on creating lasting social impact and sustainability in material production for each piece produced and with each life touched. The exhibition showcases the sculptural and tactile impact of hand-felted wool through 16 colorful felt art pieces, in addition to a large installation called “Shams”. Opening 9 October, 6:00 pm.
About the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training (PTI)
The Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training (PTI) was established to solve the ongoing struggles faced by orphans and abandoned youth after they reach the critical age 16. At this age, abandoned and orphaned youth are expected to leave the social institutions they were raised in, and start leading their lives among the local community. These youth, especially the girls, are often stigmatized and discriminated against due to them being orphans and lacking a normal family structure. PTI strives to professionally train and help these young adults unleash their creativity, develop their already existing abilities, find working opportunities that will help them become independent and build a sustainable life. PTI also works with local communities to help break the stigma and stereotypes attached to these individuals.
