Four Jordanian animation designers and educators showcase their work and process in a quick-paced, pecha kucha style presentation, and discuss how motion graphics can be used as a tool for communication, expression, and as a new medium for giving a voice to youth in Jordan.
About the Panel
Mahmoud Hindawi is an animation film maker, illustrator, and cartoonist. Mahmoud has been working as an Industrial Professor at the German Jordanian University and has over than 13 years of experience in the animation industry, worked on regional and international projects such as Ben and Izzy and Pink Panther and Pals. He has obtained a Master’s Degree in Animation at the University of South Wales. His graduation film "The Street Artist" received many awards in regional and international festivals.
Dr. Tariq Rimawi is a Jordanian animated film director and scriptwriter. In 2010, he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Animation from Newport Film School in the United Kingdom. He wrote and directed the short animated films ‘Missing’ in 2010, ‘Growing’ in 2013, and ‘Surprise’ in 2016. His shorts have been screened at more than 150 international film festivals and received 13 awards domestically and internationally. In 2014, Tariq completed his PhD studies from The Animation Academy at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. Dr. Tariq is the founder and the head of Animation & Multimedia Department at the University of Petra in Jordan.
Sandra Dajani is an independent animation artist and holds an MFA degree from Tama Art University in Japan. Sandra has more than 10 years of experience as an animator, working as a freelancer and for several animation companies. Her films’ themes are human-centered and tackle controversial social and political topics in a grotesque yet dark humor manner.
Saif. F. Al Atrash is an art director and interior architect. He began his career in motion graphics and animation, and recently started doing research on the use of augmented and virtual reality in architecture and design. Saif completed his Master’s Degree from the University of Lincoln in England. He received a VR Award from Siemens UK for the best polished virtual reality project. Currently, Saif is working on developing his own game project.
