Dr. Huda Smitshuijzen AbiFarès will be holding a public talk where she will be speaking about the many forms that curating design can take today, from a research investigation that expands into the creation of commissioned works, to publications, to a physical or virtual exhibition. Drawing on her professional experience with Khatt Foundation, AbiFarès highlights the role of the curator as a facilitator and a catalyzer of various ideas and professional practices in the service of communicating a particular idea or theme. Issues that will be addressed will include combining a unique local perspective to a wider regional and/or universal design concerns, and connecting heritage and local crafts to contemporary design techniques, production/distribution methods.
This talk is part of the public program running alongside the ‘Intro to curating contemporary design course’, sponsored by the British Council and with the support of Careem.
