ONExUNICEF Humanitarian Change-maker Labs discuss their journey with participants who have produced distinguished product designs around themes of social change and innovation for good. They discuss their stories of change-making and how a desire to solve their community problems at Za'atari Camp has catalyzed their vision of problem-solving in the MENA region. Three projects are on display at Amman Design Week; ‘Microscope X’ a low-cost microscope designed by Abbas Bassam Al Faouri (22), and ‘The Atom’, a write-in-the-dark pen, designed by Ibrahim Al Zu’bi (21) and Mohammad Naeem Al Hamadi (21), and ‘The Grow Globe’ by Seba Basel Al Diri (19), an urban agriculture solution that will be placed in the UNICEF youth center in the camp and will provide a green, safe, and inspirational space for youth.

As a comms analyst with 7 years of experience, Lye Ogunsanya is a portfolio manager for the One Foundation Dublin, where he oversees strategic response to humanitarian crisis in affected regions including Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Colombia and the Mediterranean. He is also project lead to create Africa’s first humanitarian Drone and Data Academy, as well as the founder of the award winning migrant social enterprise lifestyle brand #Houseofakina.

Giorgia Varisco is Chief of Youth and Adolescent Section at UNICEF Jordan. Giorgia has been working for over 15 years in the development and humanitarian field and has been supporting the OxU Humanitarian Change Makers programme in the refugee camps in Jordan, where for the first time in such a setting, young people have been exposed to human centered design thinking, leading to solving community problems.
