takween is a program that aims to support designers and creative entrepreneurs in Jordan initiated as a collaboration between the Goethe-Institut and platform. It offers learning modules, creative mentorship, residencies, grants, and networking opportunities, as well as workspaces and facilities for designers in a creative space in Jabal Amman.
With a focus on the Bauhaus theme, takween presents the Bauhaus Film and Virtual Reality exhibition that will display the German school of art and design using Virtual Reality at their space in Jabal Amman.
Alongside the exhibition, Osama Khalil from the Design Family is organizing a challenge for designers during a 2-day design hackathon to rethink the Bauhaus typography to create signage designs.
As for the “Enough Bauhaus - takween meets Fantasmeem” workshops, Dima Hamadeh and Adham Selim from Lebanon will be leading the first one. The workshop includes a discussion of different collaborative models to ideate successful business models for the design sector, relevant for the Jordanian and Lebanese context.
The second “Enough Bauhaus - takween meets Fantasmeem” workshop is facilitated by Fabian Winopal, the director of the growing network Tatcraft. In this workshop, he will co-create with local designers a manual on how to set-up a creative business starting from an innovative idea.
Fabian will also conduct a talk on Imagining Creative Start-ups. He will share his journey of creating an ecosystem for creative makers that enables people to imagine, create and fabricate by combining workshops and a collaborative network of creative minds.
You can also join a panel talk on Imagining Incubators for Designers at Al Hussein Cultural Center, Ras El Ain. Nidal Qanadilo will be hosting a discussion with Mohammad Obaidat, Dima Hamadeh and Adham Selim to imagine an incubation program targeting specifically designers and other creative entrepreneurs.
