The Hangar exhibition of Amman Design Week 2019 took place at the old electricity Hangar in Ras El Ain and was curated by Noura Al Sayeh-Holtrop. The exhibition showcased diverse work by local and regional designers from across disciplines; architecture, product, fashion, furniture, and graphic design.

As the most popular exhibition at Amman Design Week, the Crafts District is a celebration of the act of making; both traditional and contemporary. Taking place in a new location each year, this pop-up experience combines design installations, exhibitions, shops, and cultural programs that offer craftspeople and makers from across the country a chance to share their ideas and stories.
Back for a second edition, Amman Design Week’s Student Exhibition is a connecting point for students from all educational institutions in Jordan. As the only cross-university and cross-disciplinary showcase in Jordan, the Student Exhibition offers all students enrolled in Jordanian high-schools and universities across the country a chance to kick-start their careers by joining a mentorship program and showcasing their work to our audiences.

Amman Design Week, in collaboration with the Goethe Institut, recently concluded its first workshop in the Textile Innovation Lab series, under the title ‘Material Innovation’. The workshop, which ran between the 9th and 18th of December of last year, was facilitated by German textile expert Annette Fauvel, who was accompanied by Jordanian designer Basma Omar and ten participating designers, artists, and creators from different specialities and backgrounds.
This year, in an effort to join forces and create regional collaboration, Amman Design Week will be supporting local designers to showcase and exhibit their work in Dubai. The exhibition, taking place from 13 – 16 November, is set up as part of Dubai Design Week 2018’s Downtown Editions, a new element to the Downtown Design Fair.
This collaboration between Amman Design Week and Fab Lab Irbid / Luminus Shamal Start selected and sponsored five participants to enroll in a seven-week maker residency on digital fabrication. The residency offered participants seed money and services to research, develop, and produce proposed projects and prototypes during the seven weeks.
As an important step towards realizing our individual roles in building and directing a conversation about contemporary design and culture in the region, and towards building a generation of cultural practitioners and thinkers, Amman Design Week has just concluded a six-week intensive introductory course on curating contemporary design in the Middle East, which ran from 1 April - 12 May, 2018.
