Artificial light can become a critical tool of knowledge of a city, to rediscover the bearing lines of its structure and distinctive features of its morphology.

It is important to consider the study of artificial light as a substantial component of restoration and renovation projects because of its ability to exalt the details and merge different elements. Lighting can reconstruct the emotional visual impact of a site and its original hierarchical function, often difficult to perceive during the daytime.

Artificial lighting is a “construction" tool and not just an aid to show or decorate what already exists especially in historical city centers.
