About the Workshop
TIRAZ presents an outdoor embroidery workshop for beginners, led by an expert embroiderer and TIRAZ staff. On selected dates, interested participants are free to choose from a variety of embroidery kits, which include Jordanian and Palestinian motifs on canvas, threads, and most importantly, the needle. In this workshop, participants are presented with more than just the opportunity to learn how to embroider; they will also be able to link patterns with dresses from The Widad Kawar Collection at TIRAZ, and differentiate between the various techniques known across Jordan and Palestine. Each Embroidery kit takes approximately one hour to complete.
Bilingual / 20 JD (includes one kit) and 5 JD for the additional kit
About TIRAZ
TIRAZ is a Jordan-based, non-governmental organization that is home to the largest existing collection of Palestinian and Jordanian traditional costumes. Over a period of 50 years, with pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries, the collection has grown to include over 2000 items of costumes, weavings, home utensils and jewelry. This collection stemmed from a passion to preserve a disappearing heritage, whether due to occupation or rapid modernization and urbanization. TIRAZ aims to shed light on the vibrant Palestinian, Jordanian and neighboring Arab countries’ rich cultural heritage and living traditions.
