About the Jury

Sahel Al Hiyari
Sahel Al Hiyari is the principal architect at Sahel Al Hiyari Architects. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Architecture and Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He carried out post-graduate work at the School of Architecture at the University of Venice. His work has been published and exhibited internationally. Additionally, he has taught and lectured at several international universities, and served as a reviewer and a member of the Master Jury for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. He also curated the Hangar Exhibition in Amman Design Week 2016.

Bayan Zakaria Malhas
Bayan is the founder of B.Loved Interiors, a social media platform dedicated to showcasing global designs and interiors in succinct, user-friendly, and always inspiriting manner. She is also a celebrated interior decorator, and has styled and furnished several spaces across the region. In 2017, Bayan was selected as the first influencer in the Middle East to cover Maison & Object; she is a @DezainJo board member, in the area and elevating them to international levels.

Maha Kawar
Maha Kawar, a founding member of JIDA (Jordan interior design Association) launched her own business, Kawar Interiors, and was a part time lecturer at Petra University up until 2001. Her interest in art and wood design led her to participate in many art and design exhibitions such as Amman Design Week 2016, two solo photography exhibitions at Cervantes Amman, and the Trendsetting exhibition at Nabad Art Gallery.

Ramiz Ayoub
A founding partner at Ayoub Architects, with 27 years of work experience in architecture, interior design, and engineering consultancy services, Ramiz Ayoub has built a strong professional record with leading design firms in Jordan and the Middle East. After obtaining his architectural degree in 1991, he joined the office of the renowned architect Jafar Tukan for 12 years where he directed and contributed to the design and management of many significant projects. In 2000, he received a Certificate of Recognition for working on the design of the Jordanian Pavilion at the Hanover World Exposition, Germany.

Rana Beiruti
Rana Beiruti is the director and co-founder of Amman Design Week, an annual art and design exhibition under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah. She is also the founder of Platform, a curatorial initiative dedicated to building connections between designers and innovators in Jordan and the world. As an independent curator with a background in architecture and an MBA, she previously held the role of Director of The Lab at Darat al Funun – The Khalid Shoman Foundation, where she curated a program supporting emerging and established artists. During her time with the foundation, she also championed the organization of Darat al Funun’s archive of 30 years of history in art from the Arab World.
