The 2016 design exhibition takes place at the Amman Electricity Hangar in Ras El Ain. Designed and curated by architect Sahel Al Hiyari, the exhibition showcases original work by local and regional designers. The exhibition focuses on ideas of locality, challenging our understanding of design and its ability to push the boundaries of material, scale, form and function.

Located in the Jordan Museum, the MakerSpace is a forward-looking celebration of the Maker Movement. Visitors are invited to explore and interact with the modern tools and methods of creation, including digital fabrication technology, 3D printers, audio-visual devices and advanced robotics. These are situated alongside the museum’s collection of ancient tools, creating a juxtaposition that helps shed light on the evolution of innovation.

‘Through letters’ is an exhibition that highlights the use of letters in the designs of Hamza Bounoua’s art. He aims to create a universal visual language, drawing inspiration from a medley of cultural traditions, including the art of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, African tribal masks, totemic figures, graffiti and East Asian and Arabic penmanship.

Jordan River Foundation (JRF) is a Jordanian non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1995 and chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. JRF exhibits the handicraft works of women from three different projects under its larger handicrafts umbrella at the JRF showroom.

The Wild Jordan Center, which has a magnificent location overlooking the old city of Amman, the Citadel and the huge Jordanian flag, is owned by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN). Using a people-centered approach to protecting nature, RSCN has developed business ventures using the natural assets of protected areas to create sustainable economic and social benefits for local communities.

Al Burgan Handicrafts was established in 1989 as a family business specialized in designing, developing and contemporizing traditional Jordanian crafts. Al Burgan products feature colorful fabrics, threads and trimmings to produce top-quality, unique handmade items that combine originality, intricate needlework, and local sewing skills.

This exhibition displays the works and working methodologies of the studio's designer, Rand El Haj Hasan, and her guests from Flaÿou​ the multidisciplinary design studio based in Tunis. Flaÿou, consisting of Hella El Khiari and Thomas Egoumenides, is dedicated to object, graphic and environmental design and is focused on the joyful exploration of non-conformist ideas.

Join Australian illustrator and artist Georgia Hill in her first international solo exhibition, 'Inverse', as she further develops her current practice of hand-generated distortion and experimentation of letterforms.

MADAFA stems from the belief that design should be experienced through all five senses. Set within the winding pathway between Al Hussein Cultural Center and Greater Amman Municipality, MADAFA is a social space and pavilion curated by Arini and designed by architects Rasem Kamaland and Saja Nashashibi. The pavilion is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional space for the reception of visitors.

Samar Zureik is a storyteller who uses graphic design and illustration to paint a narrative of her life and the stories of those around her. The Lab at Darat al Funun - The Khalid Shoman Foundation is transformed into a space for the resurrection of family stories and memories.
