Four Jordanian designers have been invited to take part in VENICE DESIGN 2018 – the largest international design exhibition running alongside La Biennale di Venezia. Basel Naouri, Ziad Qweider, Mais Al Azab, and the Naqsh Collective sisters Nisreen and Nermeen Abudail, all of whom had previously showcased their work at past editions of Amman Design Week (ADW), will be taking part in the third edition of this world-renowned event.

​In collaboration with the MicroFund for Women​, Amman Design Week invites university students to apply to take part in a program that engages social responsibility and gives back to the community.

​As part of its year-round programming, Amman Design Week launches a pilot version of a six-week course titled “Introduction to Curating Contemporary Design in the Middle East”.

With the support of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the Amman Design Week team has announced that the third edition of the event will take place in 2019, allowing for an expansion that will offer year-round public programming and more frequent targeted learning and community initiatives.

Amman Design Week’s team is calling on artists, designers, writers, activists, or other creative practitioners who are involved or want to be involved with curatorial practice to take part in a six-week intensive course titled ‘Introduction to Curating Contemporary Design in the Middle East’.

Each year, Amman Design Week hosts a variety of talks and discussions where local and international speakers and designers are invited to cover different current topics related to design in the region and in the world, where the general public is connected with those speakers and is able to discuss designers' work and ideas, as well as address issues of design practice, process, theory, management and technique.

​Every year, Amman Design Week seeks to become a platform for designers to activate public spaces in such a way that allows them to be more interactive, engaging and aesthetically rich. This year, designers used existing open space to develop works that spark a conversation on eco-friendly, viable urban design.

Identity design is on the move in the Middle East. A new generation of designers explore global pop culture, local folklore, ancient Arabic calligraphy and visual art traditions to develop a contemporary branding language that is distinct and spirited.

With the theme of movement in mind, and aiming to solve and raise awareness about specific real-life issues, these students highlight how design can be culturally and socially conscious.

Design impacts our environment through aesthetics; it creates an ambience and mood in a space. These sculpture and decorative pieces at the Hangar Exhibition are meaningful and aesthetic depictions of each designer’s worldly and spiritual influences. In Jordan, sculptures decorate and enhance some of our public spaces, parks and transportation spaces.

Amman Design Week announced the winners of its Urban Park Design Competition on 11 October during the Placemaking: Reimagining Public Space in Amman panel talk.

FLUX, designed by Andrei Snobar, leverages state-of-the-art technology with physical expression and visual representation to create momentary real-time portrait of an individual. The digital presentation and modification of one‘s self-image will be their spiritual energy powered by movement. ​
