The Hangar Exhibition
This year’s Hangar Exhibition, curated by Noura Al Sayeh-Holtrop, sees common themes in regard to experimentation with materials, and architect Sahel Alhiyari’s piece at the entrance of the exhibition is a prime example of this.
The work, made of gravel, is comprised of a passageway and spaces, moments in architecture made of mounds of compressed gravel.
Sahel Alhiyari, who was the curator of the first Amman Design Week Hangar Exhibition in 2016, is the principal architect at Sahel Alhiyari Architects, a multidisciplinary practice whose work ranges from architecture and urban design to product design. This is his first participation at Amman Design Week, where he presents an installation that oscillates between an architectural/spatial object, a material/sculptural expression, and a landscape.
