Foundland Collective present subjective mapping projects, which highlight how situations of conflict influence domestic spaces and gatherings. “Friday Table” (2014) and “Groundplan drawings” (2014-2018) depart from the memory of a Syrian home prior to the 2011 conflict, and using the collective's personal memory and that of an extended network, reveal intimate interpretations of migration and loss spanning the lived experience of different generations.

The collective aims to offer a counter-narrative to mainstream news media through drawing, video interviews and critical use of information graphics.

About Foundland Collective

Foundland Collective was formed in 2009 by  Lauren Alexander and Ghalia Elsrakbi and is today based between Amsterdam and Cairo. The collective has critically reflected upon what it means to produce politically engaged, de-colonial storytelling from the position as non-Western artists working between Europe and the Middle East.
