About the Exhibition

Turning Tables exhibits a pop-up creative space built into a shipping container designed to expand both mental and physical space in order to mobilize and engage Jordanian and refugee youth in constructive exchange and processing of their travesties, hopes and dreams. This special event will showcase films, music, performances and DJ-sets that were produced in Turning Tables global effort to give voice to the visions of youth. Live presentations and talks will debate the potential of embedding creative means into programs for social inclusion to counter marginalization that is a major barrier for reaching the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The exhibition will take place in the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts Sculpture Park.

About Turning Tables

Turning Tables is a global non-profit organization that works to empower marginalized youth by providing them with the means to express their grievances, hopes and dreams through music and film. Turning Tables builds creative environments through inspiration, learning and transfer of technology that enable artistic self-expression in spaces where this would otherwise have been thought impossible. Turning Tables’ programs are providing marginalized youth with a platform to voice their travesties and visions of a better tomorrow in a non-violent manner. The organization creates both individual empowerment and collective awareness raising and change on a community, national and international level. Turning Tables Jordan work focuses on preventing negative coping mechanisms via psycho-social support and youth empowerment through creative trauma processing, strengthening of identity resilience and social cohesion.
